From heartthrob Jude Bellingham’s jersey flying off the shelf to fans doing the “row” celebration while adorning Dolce & Gabbana ambassador Haaland’s signature blonde hair, the 2026 World Cup has taken the world of fashion by storm this past summer. Hosted by Canada, Mexico, and the United States, this year’s World Cup has proven to be unforgettable. Here on our very own turf in Boston, we had the pleasure of celebrating red, white, and blue in a very different way: by being a temporary home for the beloved team France. Known for their suave style of play and 2018 FIFA win, the team has proven to be a fan favorite worldwide.  However, France’s golden boy and star player Kylian Mbappe’s style extends far beyond the pitch. In fact, the Dior ambassador was seen sporting the brand’s Normandie Tote Bag with a Nike x Stussy Tracksuit for France’s national team training camp. The sleek outfit is casual elegance fit for the Parisian.

Yet, Mbappe was definitely not the only one vying for gold in a suit. For the first time since 1974, the Democratic Republic of the Congo national team competed in the World Cup. Custom-tailored by Congolese-French designer Alvin Junior Malik, the team came ready for business as soon as they touched down. Their arrival attire included the classic double-breasted suit silhouette, with a beautiful cheetah-print harness and a stunning bedazzled cheetah brooch to match.

Meanwhile, the Spanish soon-to-be world champions landed in head-to-toe Loewe. The label dressed the team in classy navy zip-up jackets with yellow embroidery, layered over red-and-white polos and classic pleated khaki trousers. 19-year-old phenom Lamine Yamal strayed away from his teammate’s apparent loyalty to the brand, as he sported a bubblegum pink Bottega Veneta vanity case while dressed in a casual zip-up España jacket from Adidas. Yamal also took streetwear to the World Cup stage, as seen in his love for baseball caps worn backward and the German streetwear brand “6 pm”’s boxer shorts (which later sold out) visible during his final celebrations.

Quarterfinalist Erling Haaland was also no stranger to viral styles. Upon his return to Norway, the star gained attention with a Dolce & Gabbana croc-embossed tote from the men’s spring/summer 2027 show and a taxidermied raccoon. However, Haaland’s three-thousand-dollar bag wasn’t the only thing fans were jealous of. In almost every match that Norway had, fans could be spotted wearing platinum blonde wigs and Haaland’s jersey.

Nevertheless, it seems as though Haaland’s former teammate Jude Bellingham might have stolen the show this year. While boarding his flight to the England vs. Croatia match, the global sensation was spotted wearing a Louis Vuitton Duffel. Often suited up in the brand, it’s no surprise that Bellingham has taken a liking to the signature LV bag. Vogue describes Bellingham’s style as “British elegance”, a posh juxtaposition from his gritty plays on the pitch.

It wasn’t just the Haaland fan impersonators who had some truly iconic style moments this summer. I mean, It’d be impossible to walk down Newbury Street and ignore the kilts, jerseys, and flags that our Scottish visitors flaunted during their time in Boston. From Japanese fans in Houston to Brazilians in Mexico City and Miami, this summer has cultivated a beautiful blend of culture that fashion is already starting to miss.
